In Development

Our future murder mystery takes place in the golden age of 1939 Hollywood, drawing inspiration from the life and times of Clark Gable.

Fun Facts:

  • His unusually large ears nearly ended his acting career before it began.

  • He was Hitler’s favorite actor.

  • His wife, Carole Lombard, died in a tragic plane crash after returning from a war bond tour.

  • He had dentures by age 32 due to a severe gum infection in 1933. The resulting bad breath reportedly made kissing scenes with Vivien Leigh unpleasant during Gone with the Wind.

  • Stranger Than Fiction: Clark Gable had a secret love child, Judy Lewis, with actress Loretta Young during their 1934 film The Call of the Wild. Gable met Judy only once, when she was a teenager, but never acknowledged her as his daughter. Loretta Young concealed her pregnancy to protect her career, retreating from the public eye and giving birth discreetly in 1935. She later “adopted” her own child to maintain the ruse. Judy’s strikingly large ears, resembling Gable’s, hinted at her paternity, prompting Young to arrange cosmetic ear reduction surgery for her at age seven to minimize the resemblance.
